Summary/Abstract: This article addresses how the format and requirements of grant writing transform artists into conditioned administrators of a predetermined creative process. As composer, performer, arts administrator and occasional jury member, I compare grant application requirements from various institutions of different countries, including the Canada Council for the Arts, the United States Endowment for the Arts, the Australia Council for the Arts and the Bulgarian Culture Fund and show the frequent, and frequently superfluous and even harmful adjacent requirements for a project to receive funding.
