Summary/Abstract: This paper examines lexis in teen magazines: neologisms, in which borrowings dominate. Borrowings are divided into denotative and connotative, and English is the source language for the vast majority of them. Apart from the aforementioned, the analysis also concerns formal neologisms and semantic neologisms. Due to their unexpected use in teen magazines, vulgarisms are also topic of this research. Nonce words are analized on the basis of their uniqueness. Both of them are peripheral lexis in teen magazines. The analysis aims to shed light on the function of these lexemes in the said corpus.
