Summary/Abstract: The essay proposes a critical reading of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness through the impossible representation of the image of Kurtz. This reconstruction allows to consider the wilderness as a name of the Freudian Thing and the character of Kurtz as the incarnation of Marlow’s phantasmatic object.
