Summary/Abstract: The article presents the works of German and Bulgarian researchers, who look into the problems of economic relations and their place in bilateral relations between Germany and Bulgaria in the years 1919–1939. It shows the different views of researchers on important issues in order to clarify the importance of the economic policy pursued by both parties in their foreign policy strategy, as well as the impact of these relations on Bulgarian economic development. For the most part, researchers look upon the modernization of the Bulgarian economy during the interwar period as a consequence of bilateral economic relations.
