Summary/Abstract: The problem of the proper conduct of monks who have taken a vow of chastity in the face of devilish temptations sent in their dreams has preoccupied the teachers of the Church and clergy from the fourth century to the beginning of modernity. A complex set of prayer texts has been developed, sometimes accompanied by a series of rituals for the purpose of confession, repentance, and deliverance from sin. The texts are found in different versions in many South Slavic euchologies and monastic collections of various origins and composition. The article presents the variants of prayers and sequences “for a one seduced in a dream” in manuscripts from the 15th to the 19th c. – RNB, Kirillo-Belozerskoe sobranie № XII; Hilendar 378; Hilendar 362; Hilendar 365; CIAM 194; CIAM 370; NBIV 151 (756); NBIV 163 (350). Preliminary conclusions have been made regarding their introduction, spread, and functioning in the midst of Orthodox monks and priests.
