Summary/Abstract: This study aims to outline several features of the population of Balchik during the 1930s. The main resources used in this endeavour were the Statistical Yearbooks of Romania published by the Central Institute of Statistics between 1935 and 1940. The paper begins with an overview of the population of Balchik in 1930 and goes on to elaborate on certain population aspects characterising this town between 1931 and 1939 (birth rate, death rate, the rate of natural increase, marital status, education, social welfare).
