Summary/Abstract: The essence and the main types of political regime in Ancient Greece - aristocracy, democracy, tyranny, oligarchy, etc. are considered. Their key features are interpreted on the basis of the theoretical elaborations of Plato and Aristotle on the polis organization of the state. The relevant conclusions from their development are made, and the lessons for the functioning of today's political systems (and regimes) are derived.
