Summary/Abstract: The Bulgarian Army was created immediately after the Liberation of Bulgaria from the five-century Ottoman rule. During the different periods of the development of the third Bulgarian state, it bears different names: Bulgarian Land Army (1878–1879), Bulgarian Army (1879–1946), Bulgarian People’s Army (1946– 1990) and Bulgarian Army after 1990. It includes the three types of armed forces: the Land Forces, the Navy and the Air Force.
