Summary/Abstract: The conference entitled "Balancing work, family and private life: a presentday challenge" was organised jointly by the Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions (CMKOS) and the Czech Republic branch of Friedrich-Ebert- Stiftung, e.V. (FES). It took place in Prague on 3 February 2015. The main topics were the basic foundations for balancing personal and working life at European level; the conditions for parents to return to the labour market; preschool children care services and the abuse of flexible forms of work by employers in the Czech Republic; the steps being taken by the current Czech government to help balance work, family and private life; and the risks of the flexibilisation of working conditions from the point of view of German trade unions.
