Summary/Abstract: Rural tourism is one form of alternative tourism. Recreation “closer to nature”, can bring the most benefits to local people and tourism entrepreneurs. The purpose of this article was to assess the attractiveness of selected elements of tourism in rural areas of Eastern Poland. In order to achieve the stated goal, the results of a survey conducted from June to September 2020 among 570 respondents were used. Due to epidemiological constraints in effect during the survey period, the survey was conducted using ICT tools, and some questionnaires were obtained by face-to-face interview. The most common form of tourism practiced in rural areas by respondents is agritourism, while the least common is culinary tourism. Respondents most value the possibility of contact with animals, close contact with nature, peace and quiet, the possibility of active recreation, and the opportunity to learn about local culture. Among the elements of tourism potential in the surveyed area, respondents gave the highest ratings to the natural amenities and catering base of Eastern Poland.
