CULTURAL-HISTORICAL PAPERS OF ANTONIJE STRAŽIČIĆ IN THE „ZASTAVA” JOURNAL

Summary/Abstract: The papers of Antonije Stražičić printed in the „Zastava” journal (1892–1893) were to serve as the basis for his book about the history of Dubrovnik. As the book was never published, his articles represent a specific testimony to the general and cultural history of Dubrovnik. At the same time, they evoke a picturesque chronicle of social and political events to which Stražičić was a contemporary, and sometimes even a direct participant. The analysis of Stražičić’s papers sheds new light on the general circumstances in Dubrovnik in the 19th century, particularly on the position of the Catholic Serbs in the city.
