Summary/Abstract: The research analyses the Balkan Turkish word of Persian origin perde, which through its multilayered semantic structure reflects fragments from different thematic fields. On the basis of data from colloquial and dialectal Balkan discourses, the hypothesis has been put forward and corroborated that the permeation of the lexeme in the recipient languages is a complex cognitive process. The dynamics and variability in the formal-semantic structure of the borrowed sign are investigated, as well as the multidirectional assimilation of the sign in the systems of the recipient languages from the Balkan union.
