Summary/Abstract: This article aims to discuss some models of representation of the concept of “suffering” in the Balkan region. Our analysis suggests the similarities between the metaphors expressing sufferance in the languages in the Balkan area and the differences between these and those of other modern foreign languages of other areas. Some metaphorical models belong exclusively to the languages in the Balkan area.
