Celebrating 100 years of the ILO − employers look back

Summary/Abstract: This year's celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the ILO is an important event that should be used to encourage both a historical look back at events and a new vision for the ILO and its various stakeholders with respect to the future world of work. The Declaration of the Century adopted at this year's International Labour Conference represents a joint tripartite commitment, i.e. from governments and employer and employee representatives to sustainable growth, prosperity and new opportunities. A tripartite approach and social dialogue are both essential in terms of ensuring a functioning and productive economy.
