Summary/Abstract: This article presents the results of a pilot study on pediatric palliative care needs in Bulgaria consisting of an online questionnaire survey of public opinion, and a series of indepth interviews with professionals and parents. The results have proved that there is a huge need for further research on this subject. Approximately five to eight thousand children in Bulgaria need palliative care. At the same time, there are vast differences of opinion, including among professionals, as to what pediatric palliative care consists of and how it ought to be organized.
