Summary/Abstract: The establishment of the UN could not eliminate all international conflicts, nor could it guarantee collective security or respect for the principle of non-use of force. However, the organization contributes to the fulfillment of these goals through cooperation between member states and the involvement of its bodies in resolving disputes. The Security Council has the main responsibility for maintaining international peace and security, being the only body that analyzes the appropriateness of its intervention and establishes the methods of action in the event of a conflict, methods that can be considered incompatible with the reality of the current environment of international relations.
