Summary/Abstract: Complexity as a basic characteristic of contemporary world is expressed first of all in extremely fast increase of sources generating at every moment an enoromous quantity of informations, beginning with various fields of individual and social activities, education, science and technology, and up to complex economic and legal systems of national economies, public services, and legal orders. In the very center of this flood is the most characteristic phenomenon of the post- -industrial world — the information. Parallel to more quantity of flowing informations is an unbelivable development of informatics technology, i.e. the one for automatic electronic processing of data and informations. The existing legal institutions — legislative and judicial, are not able to keep pace with technological innovations. It is necessary therefore, when discussing legal issues and also in legislating, to find an adequate measure between the possibilities of realization and protection of freedoms and rights of citizens, and the needs of society at large, which is interested, by using electronic equipment, to ensure the realization of the public interest. In addition, the development of computer technology of data prosessing opens up also the issue of reassessment of some legal conceptions. Around the computer entirely new fields had developed of legal informatics, beginning with relatively easy manipulated and user-friendly personal computers and systems for office and home needs, and up to complex national and transnational legal information systems. Especially challenging in this respect are legal issues relating to assault on privacy, protection and security of data in computerized information systems. Multi-complexity of problems of protection of personal data is directly influential also in the controversy over legal nature of privacy, namely of fundamentals and ways of providing efficient protection by law against misuse of such data relating to citizens and other subjects. This issue is at the same time complex and constroversial, not only because of difficulties in construing a precize legal definition of privacy, but also due to enormous intricacies and implied contradictions of every legal system today.
