Summary/Abstract: I have given myself the freedom to write a non-scientific paper in which I explain the contributions of professor Bone Veličkovski, who was a long time researcher at the “Marko Cepenkov” Institute of Folklore and who is and will remain an irreplaceable erudite when it comes to the knowledge and understanding of proverbs. His persona was in accordance with the virtues of wisdom: known as a kind, collected and very humble man, Professor Veličkovski was an epitome of profoundness and this is remarkably present and evident in all of his works. I believe that if it was not for his doctoral dissertation from 1999, I probably would have never engaged in paremiological research, or at least not with such “ease”. This “ease” was thanks to his very unambiguous and coherent discourse, which is the same time comprehensive in its complexity but also simple enough to be understood by students, and this is not something that many authors are capable of transponing. My very modest omage for his opus has the purpose to remind students, researchers and colleagues of relating fields, of the importance of his paremiological endeavors and of the notion that writing master and doctoral dissertations in the field of folkloristics, should be approached interdisciplinary, and even intermediary, and that the field of folkloristics should not be discredited as “less worthy” in comparison to other seemingly more lucrative academic fields.
