Summary/Abstract: The main focus of this research paper is to show the status the Saracens have in the French epic La chanson de Roland / The Song of Roland. The paper aims to present how the ‘author’s’ / scriber’s Christian view point, focalization and discourse, has lead to presenting the Saracens as idolaters, pagans, heretics, compared to the Franks as monotheists and ethically better than their enemies.
