Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the articles of the Zakon sudnyj lyudem (ZSL) and Zapovedi svyatych otec (ZSO), which are considered evidence of a developed viticulture in Great Moravia. The problem of the origin of ZSL and ZSO is also discussed, since some authors (J. Vašica) dispute their Bulgarian origin and refer them to the texts of the Moravian mission of Cyril and Methodius. The analysis of Vašica’s argumentation allows to reject the Moravian hypothesis of origin for ZSL and ZSO. Texts like ZSL and ZSO could not have come into being during the Moravian mission and for that reason cannot serve evidence of a developed viticulture in Great Moravia, regardless of its location.
