Summary/Abstract: Radu Bercea was 20 and a senior high school student when he was arrested, together with a group of schoolmates, for having been part of a subversive anticommunist organization. It happened on April 30, 1959. He was sentenced to 20 years hard labour, and he served 5 years in the labour camps of the Danube Delta. The horrors experienced there inspired the drawings reproduced here, which are part of an exhibition hosted in August 2002 by the community center in Câmpulung Moldovenesc, an exhibition that illustrates the artist’s life in detention.
