A writing body, a written body? On somatic aspects of creating by Elżbieta Drużbacka

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the conditions of Elżbieta Drużbacka’s creative work, with emphasis on the participation of her body in the writing process. Both the poet’s correspondence as well as the literary works were analysed. The author presented the concept of otium negotiosum, and then pointed out the exception from it visible in Drużbacka's texts. The factors determining the process of creating was numerous health problems resulting from Drużbacka’s age. Moreover, the metaphor of the felled trees that are rotting with the senescent human body and the setting of the poetic imagination of the author of the Collection of Rhythms in the world of nature were discussed.
