Summary/Abstract: The beginning of the de-stalinisation process initiated by Khrushtchev in 1956 was felt as a menace by some leaders of the communist world who feared losing their positions. The relationships between them and the Soviet leader turned cold and, in the case of China, they gave way to an open ideological conflict. Under such circumstances, Enver Hodja, the Albanian communist leader supported the Chinese side, which he felt closer from an ideological point of view. The paper brings forth a series of documents reflecting Romania’s stand at the peak of the Soviet-Albanian conflict 1960-1961.
