Summary/Abstract: Saint Anthony is one of the saints especially reverred by members of Polish folk culture. People turn to him especially in the case of loss. Maidens pray to him to have a husband. The method of description of the stereotype of Saint Anthony is the cognitive definitione, used in the Dictionary of Folk Stereotypes and Symbols. Defining sentences are arranged in semantic categories called facets. A cognitive definitione consists of an explication built of facets and the documentation, arranged by the text genre.
