Summary/Abstract: The term affectonymes denotes the words or expressions used in intimate situations, usually between lovers and in the relationships between parents and their children. In this article the author deals with the analysis of the Polish and Russian affectonymes collected in the questionnaire carried out among the first-year MA students of Russian Studies at the University of Rzeszow. The gathered affectonymes are divided into a few semantic groups, e.g. names of animals, plants, heavenly bodies and names of food products. The following forms occur most frequently in the Polish material: kochanie, skarbie, kotku, misiu, whereas in Russian they include ‒ любимый / любимая and сердце. Indicating the problem is the purpose of the article as the small amount of questionnaire forms filled in by the students whose knowledge of Russian is poor. Poorly being good at Russian does not allow to create of a full account of affectonymes.
