Summary/Abstract: The article is to aim to presentation of the silhouette of Marian Gietko – one of the many pre-war graduates of the Faculty of Education at the Lublin Catholic University. He did not have neither high academic title, nor was the author of educational publications. He put however a great merits for Polish. He contributed to education for people who in the interwar period have taken effort to work towards the Homeland, during the Second World War they fighting for the freedom of the country, and in the reality of the post-war they communicate to younger generations all of inculcated them in the educational process of universal, patriotic and spiritual values. In memories of his students and in the pages of carrying on his school chronicles, he stands as an ideal teacher, great educator and citizen devoted to social issues.
