Summary/Abstract: Literature encompasses all written and oral language artistic achievements, and sometimes those verbal works which border the line of the documented and fictional, the essayistic and scientific. It is important to differentiate between prose and poetry – two aspects wherein literature is presented. Poetics is the branch which examines the laws and the characteristics of the artistic creation. The story (mythos) is the main part and the soul of tragedy, while narration is the real or fictitious act of presentation through which one or more events are portrayed. The big importance in narration lies with the narrator, who is sometimes associated with the author, while sometimes he is a fictional character. Of many well-known pieces of fiction, the most famous ones are the novella and the novel.
