Text relief as a means of stylizing speech in Alena Mornštajnová's novel »Silent Years«

Summary/Abstract: Written text is traditionally connected with using formal and prepared language while spontaneity and non-standard level is typical of spoken language. Using colloquial devices is not always connected with the dichotomy of standard and non-standard language. Syntactic level can be used as an example. Breaking grammar structure of sentences should not be understood as non-standard language but as the stylization of spontaneous colloquial language. Language material was gained from the novel by Alena Mornštajnová Tiché roky (2019).
