A Reading on the US Arctic Strategy Document in the Context of the Increasing Importance of Arctic Geopolitics

Summary/Abstract: The reflection of global climate change on international politics is shaped by the formation of new waterways due to the melting of glaciers in the Arctic region, and this makes Arctic geopolitics an increasingly important region in the competition between great powers. Because the region also contains significant oil resources, states with global claims are keenly interested in Arctic geopolitics. As a matter of fact, in reality, the USA released its first national strategy document focusing on the Arctic Region in October 2022. In this article, the increasing geopolitical importance of the Arctic Region is examined within the framework of the document published by the White House.
