Summary/Abstract: Economic security has been an integral part of the national security of states in the historical process. But the autonomous handling of the economy as a security sector is a relatively new development. Undoubtedly, the globalization process and the process of rethinking security arising from this process have an important effect on this development. One of the important topics related to economic security is the phenomenon of trade wars, which has been frequently mentioned in recent years. Especially in the US, with the coming of power of Trump administration, the phenomenon of trade wars came to the fore. In this context, in this study, economic security and trade wars are analyzed through free trade and protectionism policies and with the example of US-China Competition.
