Summary/Abstract: This study considers two major interpretations of Charles Baudelaire: Dimitar Avramov’s first and only Bulgarian biography and Walter Benjamin’s monograph A Lyric Poet in the Era of High Capitalism. Both are put in the aesthetic and social context of the Bulgarian late “developed socialism” and postmodernist “peaceful transition” from socialism to capitalism.
