Summary/Abstract: The perception of humanity as being made of bounded ethnic groups, ubiquitous among those archaeologists who do not use social science research, is also present among many of those who explicitly refer to it, especially among those educated as culture-historical archaeologists, because their limited contact with the writings of sociologists and anthropologists leads to misunderstandings and recontextualizations.
