Summary/Abstract: The article concentrates on the relations between a cinematic production and literature linked to the most famous book by Mikhail Bulgakov that became an inspiration for an independent artistic work by Wojciech Marczewski. On the one hand the sketch consists of different interpretations and observations by other authors. On the other hand it is an attempt to point out new references of comparative intertextual character, thus the structure of the article. At the beginning the article is devoted to the structure of the Censor, who is a mixture of several characters from the book. Especially the Pontius Pilate, Berlioz, the master or Judas from Kiriath. The next part of the article presents the way the most important characters of Master and Margarita who do not show on the screen: Yeshua and Woland together with some secondary characters from the book manifest in the movie. The second part of the article analyzes motives, quotations and patterns that constitute Wojciech Marczewski’s work and his directorial strategy that leads to their artistic transformation. As a result such transformation added to the final work’s depth and allowed the movie to become a multilayer moral and philosophical treatise.
