Summary/Abstract: In all national law systems of Europe, Latin quotations accomplish at least two functions: a. the expression of certain concepts or juridical principles; b. a rhetorical function that polishes the text. In the Romanian Law system, which includes the Legislation, Jurisprudence and the Doctrine, the most frequent quotations are found in the form of words, expressions, collocates, in the theoretical works. This study is based on the research on a corpus made up by all the normative documents published in the Romanian Official Bulletin (Monitorul Oficial) between 1859-1942, where we have identified eleven Latin expressions: ab antiquo, ab intestat, aeque principaliter, de visu, eo ipso, motu proprio, mutatis mutandis, propriis sensibus, sic volo, stante pede et testimonium abeundi.
