Summary/Abstract: A House for Mr Biswas is V.S. Naipaul’s finest metaphor of ,,unhousing”: the main character is, like many of today’s immigrants, in a continuous search for a place he may warmly call home. Nevertheless, the world he inhabits proves to be hostile for the formerly colonial subject. The present paper will thus analyse the possibilities a postcolonial has in a society which is not yet ready to accommodate misguided identities or innerly torn individuals.
