Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the French novelist’s work Charlotte, a biographical novel/ poem in prose which follows step by step the very short life of the Jewish-German expressionist painter, Charlotte Salomon. Beyond the tragic destiny of the artist this novel condemns once more the most disastrous derailing in human history: the Holocaust. Consequently, this article is meant as a warning against the rising nationalist, racist and anti-Semitic voices in our world.
