Summary/Abstract: School absenteeism is a phenomenon with spectacular dynamics in recent decades. The issue of school absenteeism is a current matter, because in these days, such situations lead to school abandonment. Sociologists believe that abandoning school is a social issue that generates a set of long-lasting consequences. Research shows that those who drop out of school are unlikely to be integrated into the workforce. Those who have interrupted their studies are more dependent on social maintenance and help programs than the rest of the population. Currently, in Romania, in the period 2008-2018, the dropout rate for grades I to IV almost tripled, and for grades V-VIII, abandonment rates increased fourfold. The present study aims to highlight some aspects of the dynamics of the school absenteeism phenomenon from a technological high school, during the school year 2017-2018, from a rural locality in the county of Maramures.
