Summary/Abstract: What really matter in completing this study regarding the canon laws which influenced the spiritual direction of Christian art, in the sense of driving it to Sanctity in accordance with the Orthodox principles of the Church, there are three canons discussed and approved by the bishops of Africa, assembled in Carthage, at the beginning of the 5th century. Regarding the Quinisext Council, it reinforces the deep connection between the iconography of the Church and the dogmas of Chalcedon. The Orthodoxy was accused at that time by the monothelite heretics as divisive.Considering themselves as true Orthodox, the heretics fought, in every available way, against the pictorial representation of the Savior, as true Man and true God, on icons and Church walls. By misinterpreting the primary tradition of the Church iconography, they promoted, as the monophysites did before them, the symbolic images from the past, loading the old crypto-messages with heretical meanings.
