Summary/Abstract: This paper proposes an analysis of the Romanian literary milieu during the Stalinist years that mark the beginning of the communist regime and focuses, in particular, on the apparatus of translation, publication and dissemination of texts behind the Iron Curtain. Envisioned as a two-part study, the research will reveal, at first, the relationship between the editorial and translation endeavors and the official state ideology in order to focus, in its second half, on the minute aspects of a translation process dependent on the political reach of Socialist Realism.
