Summary/Abstract: What is good teaching is a question that we certainly cannot give a simple answer to, but what we know for sure is that planning and programming is one of the fundamental skills and foundation of a good teaching practice. It is a creative process in which teachers have the opportunity to think about the teaching goals and learning outcomes of each lesson, and the ways they will achieve and monitor them. All active participants in the teaching process are aware of the fact that curricula are slow to adapt to rapid changes in today's world. Contemporary teaching planning within the subject curriculum starts from the learning objectives and outcomes that are the basis of that planning and focuses on the level of knowledge that students must achieve. The basis of curriculum planning is certainly the annual implementation curriculum of a specific subject. That so-called curriculum circle begins with the initial learning outcomes given by the subject curriculum, which forms the basis of lesson planning. In this regard, planning of the English language teaching, as with other teaching subjects, is an important step in the process that begins with the definition of the learning outcomes, continues with the planning of the methodological aspects of the teaching performance, and finally determines the procedures that will be used to verify the realization of the planned learning outcomes (evaluation and grading). In that process, it is very important that teachers specify learning outcomes so that students know what is expected of them at the end of the teaching process, and this certainly requires a lot more time, preparation and sacrifice on the part of the teacher. The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of planning based on learning outcomes in English language teaching, and this is also the first step in changing the teaching process and its effects.
