Summary/Abstract: The canons regarding the Church painting issued by the Quinisext (in Trullo) Council, but especially the canon 82, by which the iconographic representation of the Savior was imposed in the real (human) form, which He acquired through the Incarnation, brought to adverse reactions from some theologians and bishops from Asia. Influenced by the direct vicinity of their dioceses with the powerful Islamic caliphate, as well as by certain iconoclastic ideas, of heretical or mosaic provenance, the eastern hierarchs manifested with great violence in order to remove the icon from the cultic life of Christianity.
