Disability Organisations in Democratic and Competitive Environment

Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the change of the social context in which disability organisations function in the transition period to a democratic society and market economy. The following aspects were analysed: missions of the disability organisations, strategic positions and their implementation, internal organisation and financing, mutual relations among disability organisations, their activities within the NGO sector and their influence at the state and society. The paper outlines solutions that would improve the activities of the disability organisations in changed circumstances and influence the change in the relationship of the state towards the people with special needs in Serbia as well as the change of their role in the Serbian society.
