Summary/Abstract: Oltenia is a region in the South-West Romania, with an individuality which was in attention of great events from Romanian history, starting from 1920 to 1989. In the present article we want to present in which fields and periods of the Romanian History we can talk about the economical, ideological, social importance of Oltenia. The milestones 1920 and 1989 are interpreted as main moments in the history of Romania and Oltenia.
