Summary/Abstract: The subject of socio-historical research is the analysis of the genesis, evolution, and waste of the socialization of Polish education in the spirit of conservative pedagogical thought. The author takes into account three principles according to Gérard Noiriel: 1) finding the past in the present, 2) finding real people and groups socially involved in educational changes in Poland after the collapse of totalitarianism, 3) recognizing the essence and manner of exercising power in the school system. In the spirit of conservative pedagogical thought, the author answers the question of how it happened that the Polish political elite of the period of systemic transformation rejected the potential of reforming schools within social institutions as participating communities.
