Summary/Abstract: The increased risk of potential threats generated by cosmetics launched on the market gives rise to novel instruments within the scope of supervision over the cosmetics market. The aim of the article is to present new obligations imposed on entrepreneurs who manufacture cosmetic products as well as a modified system of supervision over their safety. It also demonstrates the problems related to the regulation of the cosmetics market considering the changes introduced by the Act on cosmetic products. The major considerations focus on the organization of the market surveillance system and the administrative and legal instruments for ensuring the safety of cosmetic products and the problems that arise in this context. The article substantiates the claim that the supervision of cosmetic products by the bodies of the State Sanitary Inspection and Trade Inspection is a vital task of public administration in the economy performed under police supervision, which largely allows for the elimination of dangerous cosmetic products from the market. However, the solutions presently adopted are not free from defects. As can be observed, certain obstacles and threats arise from the application of the provisions in practice.
