Summary/Abstract: Museums are cultural institutions with great potential for the analysis and interpretation of contemporary problems and phenomena. Faced with various types of challenges related to reaching recipients (both new and already present), museums undertake various initiatives, many of them in the digital space. Among the examples of non-standard activities of museums in social media analyzed in this text, there are mainly projects that use functionalities offered by platforms such as Tinder or OnlyFans, which are rarely used by these institutions. This is an area of activity in which museums have so far taken only cautious and few actions — while their presence there seems to have a number of consequences. On the one hand, such initiatives make it possible to distinguish a given unit from others, as well as to draw attention to numerous problems related to publishing virtual content (e.g. censoring it with algorithms). On the other hand, however, it seems that many of these projects lack in-depth critical analysis related to the tools used, in which museums can be one of the leading actors and thus engage in important social and cultural discussions.
