Summary/Abstract: Intertextuality, which was applied in order to point out or reveal the connections or relationships between two or more texts and was initially only used in text analysis, was used in different disciplines in later periods. With this approach, it is a method that is considered within the scope of concepts such as reflection, emulation, conscious inspiration, by taking names specific to the discipline in which it is used, such as interfilm, intermusic, interphotographic, intermedia. The determining factor in this method is not which field study it is used in, but the systemic relations of the studies with each other. The concept of intertextuality, which is a widely used analysis method in artistic field studies, has left its place to the concept of intersymbolism or interpictoriality over time. In intersymbolism or interpictoriality, a transformation is made for artistic mediation by quoting the form constructed by someone else, and transferring this quoted form to another context. In the field of visual arts, in almost every period, it is seen that the artist quotes from the production of another artist as well as quoting his own work. In this study, it is aimed to examine the intersemiotics or inter-picture relationship of the Pieta theme, which is quoted in the forms that Michelangelo's Pieta theme uses repeatedly in the artist's later works and in artistic forms produced by different artists in different artistic periods.
