Summary/Abstract: Solution-focused brief therapy is a psychotherapy approach that emerged in the United States in the early 1980s and is used today by specialists in many different fields, including psychiatry, clinical psychology, counseling, coaching, mentoring, social work, and even nursing. It can be said that this approach is a very innovative one in the field of mental health, as it abandons the problem-oriented traditional view and adopts a solution-oriented view. The relevant research and applications have gained momentum only in recent years in Turkey. The aim of this study is to review solution-focused brief therapy with its history, philosophical foundations, core assumptions, view of the client, of change and of the therapist, application process and effectiveness in a comprehensive way. In this way, it is aimed to emphasize the promising aspects of solution-focused brief therapy and to guide researchers and practitioners interested in this approach.
