Summary/Abstract: 41 stuttering subjects were used to examine their electroglottographic’s characteristics and especially the relation between voice fundamental pitch and contact quotient. Correlation analysis revealed moderate correlation between the two parameters. Using different pitch’s variations, the contact quotient can be normalized. There exist also a strong correlation between the reduction / increasing of the voice’ pitch and the mean values of the contact quotient in the combine speech (fluent and dysfluent), produced by the stutterers. The present study proved that the larynx does not provoke stuttering and the different abnormal laryngeal characteristics are an essential part of the stuttering behavior. The registered distortions in laryngeal function in adult stutterers are results of very well developed stuttering with long history. It is concluded that, electroglottography is a sufficient instrument for additional assessment and therapy: can be used for visual treatment feedback.
