Summary/Abstract: Professional identity is developed by taking advantage of a variety of teaching-learning opportunities. Among these, specialist practice can contribute to the development of students' competences and to the decision about their future professional career. To this end, we analysed the perceptions of a group of students majoring in Pedagogy at the Petrol-Gaze University of Ploiesti towards the usefulness of specialist practice in choosing the right specialization, developing pedagogical competence and deciding on a future profession. The results obtained show some differences in perception regarding the choice of future profession depending on the age of the students and their getting employed in the education system. Other results are also discussed here.
